We are in the beginning stages of developing a staff buy-in/orientation "toolkit." I'd love to hear what has worked in your organization or questions you have that this toolkit could help answer. Currently, we have brainstormed scripts, a video/photos to explain, and/or a Circle Up Webinar. x-posted

At our organization, once or twice a year we hold "lunch'n'learns" where we educate new staff or staff that are unfamiliar with Centering on the hows and why's of our Centering practice. Our medical director will speak on outcomes and patient experience to give a good picture of why Centering is important to us.
Also, as the Centering Coordinator, I try and touch base with any new staff starting to talk about Centering and our recruitment process, as well as ask more experienced recruiting staff to walk through the process with them. Centering is also incorporated into our new resident training sessions.
It's definitely a process, but the more we keep Centering on everyone's minds, the more normal and natural it becomes for staff!

Question for you....when you touch base with new staff what do you say/do? Is it a formal training approach or something else?

It depends on the staff really! If the staff has been through training and the lunch'n'learn, I sometimes ask to sit in on OB visits to observe and see how things are going, other times I send out an email to clinic staff doing recruiting and periodically ask how they are feeling about recruitment and gather ideas from them on how best I could support them moving forward. More informally, sometimes I stop in to our clinics and talk face-to-face with various staff to get a feel for how things are going and their thoughts on Centering. For staff that are super new, I also show them our Centering videos and ask if they'd be willing to sit through and observe one of our groups - that has been huge for us!
