I am interested in Centering because: I want to make a difference in someones life for the better and help educate them about the better way of healthcare. I am passionate about what I do with our Centering Program at Kaiser Permanente. I love the lifelong friendships that I build while going thru the journey of pregnancy for all of my patients. I love the personal care that patients receive and I love to keep our groups fun and current. Coming up on being accredited for a year in Jan 2018 and we have grown so much. Already starting 2 groups a month starting Dec 2017, beat our goal to start 2 by a month. #MicDrop

I have no idea why my recruitment sheet is sideways lol but here is a picture of the recruitment sheet I made up all on my own, then as soon as we were accredited I was able to added that priceless blue box on the bottom. The first set of pics is 4 different sheets with either a sweet pregnancy picture, a positive affirmation or whatever I find for that month to put on there. Those are the schedules I made up for each of the sessions. I make sure they are different every month. The patients absolutely love this because then even tho our templates aren't open that far out, the patients have an idea when the next session is going to be so they can let their employer know or if there is holidays and they know they won't make a session they make a one on one in clinic. We also have our Kaiser Permanente recruitment sheet hanging up in all of our exam rooms and I am in the process of stealing a couple of the smaller tables in the waiting rooms to promote Centering , lol , along with these 2 sheets of paper ( I only posted those 4 calendars for those groups because thats what I had in my binder to snap a pic and post on her to share and maybe you can make your own also Its pretty simple and it is way more organized this way, it is for me anyway) along with one Centering group session dates and a recruitment sheet, I also give them the standard CHI brochures that I purchase from the CHI store. The only reason why I have the Midwives, MD's, RN's and MA's is because when you come in for your NOB , you are overwhelmed with emotion and when you are trying to recruit someone and trying to explain to them what Centering is and what it offers, half the time the may have been at the clinic for a good hours with labs, US , provider appt ect and they aren't listening. So I give it to them and tell them to look it over and instead of leaving it up to the pt to contact ME, I tell them I will contact them in the next day or so and then they can tell me if that works for their schedule and I tentatively put them on the schedule for the first Centering session and 99% of the time they say it will work and they are excited about it. So since I am the Centering Coordinator and I am so passionate about Centering, as a clinic we have all decided for the most part, When I am available I go in to the exam room with my Centering handouts and stuff and work my magic and get them to join Centering. I put this recruitment sheet up on the wall by where the patients sit in the exam room because some of the time they may be waiting for a few minutes by themselves or with their support ppl who are at their appt and they sit there and pass the time by reading the entire sheet of paper, that way when the Midwife or the MD come in to the exam room the patient asks about Centering on their own because they want more information. We also have once a month a Meet the Midwives , half hour meet and greet with our Midwives at Kaiser Permanente Bellevue Medical Center, at our clinic we have a beautiful fireplace area on the first floor so the midwives go hang out at the fireplace and the patients pregnant or not can come and meet them. Most are pregnant tho and they do this once a month. I again made up a flyer to let patients know about the event. Its pretty cool and I plan on going to one one of these times and I will take pics and post but I will also be posting the flyer above. I love doing crafty things and I love bright cheery colors. I got all of the midwives on a group txt and they all had said they loved it! Since our inhouse training on April 10th ,ALL of these midwives received their Facilitator certification from our lead midwife Karen. I have other pics to post so I will see which thread I can put them under. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to share a little of my own little process. Attachments:

So this isn't exactly patient enrollment I am really not sure what it would go under but I thought it was kind of a cool idea, so I was at the party store and I saw these cards that are meant for a baby shower, well the last few months we have been doing a Baby Shower theme for our patients at the Reunions. I saw these cards and I thought I would grab a pack and see how they go over or what our patients thought about them. So what I wanted our Reunion patients to do during the reunion was to fill out these index cards for the new incoming Centering Pregnancy group. They are advice cards for the new Mom and Dad, some of our patients don't sign their name at the bottom and leave it blank but everyone has been so sweet and loved giving these new parents to be that will be starting Centering Pregnancy soon after their Reunion, they give whatever advice, from "Dear New Mom and Dad" Congratulations, some advice I would give you would be to throw your birth plan out the window and just got with it" haha some are super funny and some are very very sweet. Then at the bottom of the card the Reunion patients usually sign their name ( they know they don't have to) and they will sign their baby's name too, then what we will do is give the new group starting Centering Pregnancy each on of these parenting advice cards, and they get to keep them. It is so sweet, the Reunion parents are so eager to give the new parents some type of advice, its the little things like these cards that are going to make Centering that much more of a special journey for both sets of parents, the Reunion parents as well as the new Mom and Dad. As well as having a baby shower theme for our Reunion I also picked up very cute thank you cards for our Reunion patients and I write in the card thanking them for letting us take this journey with them in Centering Pregnancy, then if it is not my group and because I am the Centering Coordinator, I take this thank you card to the Facilitator and Co-Faciliatator and have them sign THEIR names because it is more personal than me signing mine and they may not know who I am. I am just trying to make this the best thing these patients could've experienced and if a .50 cent card with handwriting with a little sweet note and a signature from the ppl they know the most (Midwife and MA) then it is PRICELESS. It means so much to the patient when you know them on a personal level as well as they know YOU on a personal level and that you DO NOT get in clinic appts. I will post some pics of our reunion also, LOL , I don't know any other thread to put it under. Again sorry this post is long. When I log onto Centering Connects I need to get my ideas out that are in my mind otherwise I may forget them haha. I bought "Its a BOY"and "Its a GIRL" banners to put on the back drop of our pic. We put them up for our Reunions, I LOVE MY JOB!!!! Notice this group is pretty small, we only have a couple more like this and we have groups now 9-13 patients. WHOOO HOOO! We love these kind of growing pains. #GetCenteredOrElse! HAHA just kidding. P.S. Reunions are the ONLY time for cupcakes or cake, they deserved it they got Centered! I don't know if this will be helpful to anyone but I am pretty proud of us and where were going! Theres only one place to go and that is UP! Enjoy!

Hey John Craine I was thinking, can we start a new thread for people to post their snacks? I thought it would be fun. We have so many different sites on here and I am always looking on Pinterest or my pregnancy apps (pregnancy apps let you know what they can eat and what they shouldn't so it makes it that much easier) or even asking my patients what they would like for snacks in Centering. I have done Mozzarella, grape tomato and fresh basil leaf kabobs with a vinegarette drizzle for a Centering reunion, lactation cookies (store bought) for breastfeeding session as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, muffins ect. I am just looking for different ideas because I don't want my patients to come to Centering and getting the same snacks and same drinks every time they come. I have gotten some La Croix, which they loved, and since were coming into some hotter weather here, we usually have water, coffee and tea but I want something different sometimes because if I were the patient I would be like "oh its cheese and crackers and yogurt again, Yay" lol. Maybe ppl can post pics of their snacks so others can get ideas?

Just decide which board you want it to go under. Maybe Starting & Sustaining Centering?

Ha ha Amy, that's a good subject for a new thread Just navigate to the board that you think is appropriate for the thread and select CREATE THREAD from the upper right corner. Then just give your thread an interesting title guaranteed to get folks to click on it and post your request to the community.

I am interested in Centering because: As a military spouse myself, I can see the HUGE benefit Centering has to our expectant moms who are often many miles from home with no friends or family nearby! I feel like the Centering model is a perfect fit for our environment!

Does anyone have a flyer that they use to educate patients about Centering? I'm not looking for the dates, but more general info and positive reasons to join groups that we could give out broadly. If you would be willing to share a Word version or something else we can edit, that would be very helpful. Thank you, Heather This is what we use. It is handed out to patients in OB Registration and is available in the lobby and all nurses stations. Attachments:Centering Trifold.docx (1.97 MB)

It would be great to offer all of these incentives, but I'm not sure how we could continue funding all of these items. We received a grant aimed at improving enrollment which included an incentive program and had to limit our incentive budget to just a small portion of the total award. Honestly, the incentive program has not seemed to make much of a difference on our enrollment rates. In my experience no matter how many bells and whistles you put on it, adhering to an opt-out process and having a committed staff member who is enthusiastic when providing the information is essential. I can tell a huge difference in enrollment rates when I know there is a committed staff member doing the initial OB appointment. "I see your due March 8th, you'll get to participate in the March Centering group with _______." I try to train our intake staff to use language that highlights that being part of Centering is being part of something fun and special. We also have found that sending out cute invitations as reminders and doing a reminder call a day or two before helps with attendance at the first session. For me the hardest part in all of this getting medical assistants and nurses doing the initial OB intakes to demonstrate the enthusiasm needed and following the opt-out processes as outlined.

And you can't fake enthusiasm, it has to be sincere <3

We use these at all of our satellites and my site. I noticed we were giving out different fliers and information at the different sites, so we needed consistency.

I'm wondering if anyone has created recruitment scripts that folks in their clinics use either for CenteringPregnancy or CenteringParenting. If you have, would you be willing to share them?
