Background



In response to the increasing impact of the opioid crisis on women, we are convening a national conversation to examine the unique prevention, treatment, and recovery issues for women who use, abuse, or overdose on opioids. This meeting will build upon the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary’s opioid initiative, examining the unique and specific needs of women in the context of that epidemic. We will bring together policy experts, program staff, researchers, clinicians, and women with lived experience to foster a national conversation on best policies and practices to address these growing challenges.
